De trámite = dead rubber

How about "dead fish" which we come across much more than "dead rubber"?

Pescado muerto

To me 'pescado' is fish you are going to eat.  So it is already dead.  Pez is fish.  So wouldn't you say pez muerto?  Pescado muerto would be like saying 'dead beef' instead of dead cow.  I think when you hear 'pescado muerto' you are hearing Spanglish.  I think they would say 'fria' for 'dead fish'

How would you say "chewy french fries"?         :bald_head:

Chewy?? Papitas de goma? :crying:

I like well-done fries, i.e. crispy. I always order "bien dorada." Often they actually come out well done. But, being Mexico, it's still a crap shoot.

Always have liked their Enchiritos and of course their crispy tacos.  Mini chicken quesadilla is ok also.

And they wouldn't. Pescado is a fish "already caught." Pez is a fish still living in the water, as it were. The ocean is full of pez. The fish market is full of pescado.

So, by definition, pescado would generally already be dead. We wouldn't say "dead corpse" because a corpse is already dead and it would be redundant. We would say "dead fish" because fish, in English, could be alive or dead. But in Spanish pescado muerto would be just as redundant.

True enough.  Why is a hamburger called that? All kinds of facts, fiction, and hearsay on that.
