I have been in a bit of a downer mood.  I am 44 and have been going to get my psa numbers checked every 4 months because they have been high and my dad had prostate cancer.  This last go they were way way to high.  14.  Don’t really feel like dealing with any of this, so like a little bitch I have been avoiding my doctors offices calls.

My friend's father had urinary problems for a long time. He, too, procrastinated. He's now terminal, with stage 4 prostate cancer. You really don't want to go through that. It's terrible to watch, and worse to experience.

So guys, I’m scheduled to have The UroLift Procedure , this Monday .

I’m postponing my procedure. I’m sick,   Chills, sweats., congestion & coughs.   I do not  Want to have the procedure and be trying to recuperate from it while being sick. I could possibly be better by Monday morning, but since it is the weekend , if I am not better by Monday morning, I cannot contact my doctors office over the weekend, so I will just reschedule    I am anxious to have it done, but at the same time, there is some hesitation, as I had said before thinking  about anything going through my penis, and the recovery .  I am disappointed that I have to postpone, but at the same time not that disappointed. And as soon I’m feeling better , I will get myself psyched up again to have it done

Just rescheduled April 8th

Hey Smooth. Good luck getting better and doing the urolift in April. Tell us more?  Where are you doing it?  Covered by insurance?  How much does it cost?  Will want to know how you recover !  I am thinking about it.  Btw, have you tried all the herbal stuff Oso says works?  Maca, Pygeum, the other one ...  ?

Only tried Maca, as well as a few prescription meds.  Doing it at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura, Ca.    For me it’s completely covered by Kaiser.  I worked for L.A. County for well over 30ys, and have 100% Medical .  I intend to let you guys know how it goes

ps - My Doctor is not a Kaiser doctor, but Kaiser is paying for it

K. I just got some Maca and Pygeum. Beta sitosteral on the way.
i’m not sure what to expect. But I’ll keep you appraised.

I’ve read that the Beta Sitosteral is really good , and can aid in shrinking the Prostate, but must be taken for about a year before any shrinkage  begins to occur.   But :dunno: :dunno:.  There was also one other natural herb that also supposedly would aid regarding shrinkage, but I can’t remember the  name of it. .  I’m good going with the “ Lift “.  It’s suppose to be a permanent thing, but my doc says it’s durable for about 10 years .   And it can be removed.     Failure rate is between 2-14 %, and would occur within 4 yrs.      It was only approved in the U.S. in 2013.  .  I considered just living with my problem, but BPH untreated can lead to a variety of issues with bladder & kidneys .

ps - My Urologist is also a Clinical Professor of Urology at The Keck School of Medicine of USC

The “UroLift” is the only procedure for the prostate that preserves your Sexual Function.  So far   Who knows what they may come up with next .

The last time I checked and it was probably two years ago, out-of-pocket cost for a urolift is about $6000.  So I waited and no I am with Kaiser now, they only cover TURP.  Which is the method that usually leaves you unable to ejaculate. And about 20% apparently also end up with erectile dysfunction!  So I am waiting it out.  Yeah one of the unpleasant side effects of continued BPH besides getting up to Pee night, is internal hemorrhoids. Ugh.

Are you saying Kaiser won’t cover it for you ?  I’m not sure I understood.  Also , I think with the TURP, you ejaculate into your bladder, and it comes out with  your urine  .  Among all of the issues that can be caused by untreated BPH, can also be the development of “stones”

The local kaiser surgeon only does TURP.  And the out of pocket is $125.   Frankly I haven’t asked yet how they cover other methods.

My regular Kaiser doctor referred me to the non Kaiser doctor .  And Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura accepts Kaiser .  When  I rescheduled my surgery, there were other locations that had sooner  availability , but they do not accept Kaiser, so I have to wait until April for an opening at Community Memorial.   My Urologist Performs Urolifts on certain days of the month.   He was booked all of March for his UroLift procedures at Community Memorial. .  On those particular days , he performs the procedure all day long .  His first of the day is 7:30am, and his last is about 4pm .  The procedure takes 45-60 minutes

I stand corrected.  With Kaiser I have a $5.00 copay. .  I love my retirement insurance ❤️💗❤️

*Stinging Nettle*  is one I was thinking of to aid in shrinking.  I have detailed notes that I have taken , but at the moment I can’t find the info I’m looking for in all the notes I’ve taken .  Also trying to find the info regarding *Thermobalancing Therapy*, and *5-Alpha-Reductase Inhibitors* that I took notes on.  During my house restoration project, I’ve misplaced a lot of my research notes regarding enlarged prostate shrinkage.  Oh well.  There’s a lot of info out there if one cares to really look

With all this Coronavirus stuff, looks like I’ll be postponing my procedure again.    I was scheduled for a Monday , and canceled on Friday.  I ended up feeling better by Monday, and could have had it done after all , but I had already canceled .   Oh well

Suggest you try Urozinc Plus at Walmart - around $15.  Recommended the stuff to a relative since it works fast.  Feel relief in about 3 days

@ SMOOTHBURN ---PYGEUM   is a great herb for prostate!!   You can order online from Swansons !!  $5.50 per bottle!! Also i notice that after doing squats and lunges in my house; i tend to urinate less during the night!!

Also skipping like a 5 year old child would do is very good for a tighter prostate! I skip around the house a lot lately; and it makes your mood better as a bonus!!

I hope Smoothburn gets feeling better very soon!!

Has anyone experienced long term negative side effects from flomax?  It’s my savior right now. But I try not to use it too much.

My Dr gave me a choice,  Flomax or Tadalafil.  Duh!  of course I chose Tadalafil.  minimal side effects, 2 birds in one stone vs one with supposedly much side effects.

Really?  Does tadalafil shrink the prostate AND increase circulation?

It aids urine flaw.  Yes it does.  I am first hand witness.  When I have the drug in my system the flaw is acceptable. (not perfect, but acceptable) if not I get clogged (waiting for the urine to start for about 15-30 secs and then comes out in double flaws weakly) randomly  and have frequent peeing issues.  I still can live without the drug but then it becomes an impediment.  Tadalafil is approved by the FDA for BPH.

Thanks Dulla. I’ll give it a try. Taladafil, aka Cialis.  I tried it for four for a boost, and found I got an even better boost from Viagra. So I didn’t go back to it at all.

So you know, Tadalafil is approved for BPH,  not Sildanafil (aka, Viagra) which is also approved for Pulmonary hypertension.

Having to piss all of the time, especially at night.   Often tired  during the day, from lack of good sleep , due to having to pee  throughout night.  I had to cancel my procedure due to the pandemic. Now  Thinking about when to reschedule .  Just thought I’d post this info for those who might be interested

I often have this problem.   Pygeum seems to help cut down on my trips to the bathroom when I remember to take it.
