But a bar girl can take the stance that they are cochina sg's and they are bar girls.   And believe it or not that is the way they see it.

I agree: I have never liked the required $1 for the robe guy.  One time I tried to ignore him and he stood between me and the door with his hand out.  I tried to get around him as the chica had already gone past and he didn't budge, saying "dollar for the robe".  So I peeled off a dollar and he stepped aside.  That is not a tip, that is a fee.

I wouldn't tip anyone else that you mention.

The ones who really earn every dollar in tips is the cum boys who have to deal with the mess we leave behind.  I leave $2 minimum and if it is a real mess (like the threesome I had with a squirter who I lost track of how many times she soaked the bed!), I will leave more.

About a month ago, I went to take a girl up from HK, but I had no more ones when the robe guy asked for his tip I told him "sorry amigo I have no more ones." Well he got all pissed off and started trying to lecture me so I turned around and started leaving with the girl...then she gave him a dollar and he walked off.

Some of these robe guys and cum boys are annoying as fuck! LOL

In TJ, generally I will tip according to service not a flat percentage. If the service is great than I will sometimes tip 20% or more. Conversely if the service is crap or especially if they try and rip me off in any way they get nothing.

I like to think I am positively reinforcing the good behaviors and negativity reinforcing the poor behavior.

If an uber goes out of the way for me or I just like the guy I'll tip extra and leave him a five star rating.

Sometimes I will tip the cumboys before session if I want a little extra time. This has worked for me at Ibiza and I have been able to stay in the room well past when the knock would have came.

One person I tip well is the guy who watches my car for me at the Ticuan garage, his name is Jose. Not only does he put it in a special spot for me but he watches it for me all week, so to me he is an important one to take care of, plus I think he's a good guy and deserves it.

I was at Chicago Club on Friday and was taking a girl up. As I was walking out I pulled a $1 bill out of my wallet and had it ready in my hand.

We get out front and there was no one there so I grab a robe and help my chica put it on. As we finished, a guy walked up and I exaggerated putting my dollar in my pocket saying with a smile, "es para mí!"

I then pulled the buck out of my pocket and gave it to the guy. Both the girl and the guy got a laugh out of it saying I should keep my own tip 😁

I try to not get hung up on the robe guys or the cum boys. Their jobs suck and they still make shit money. The extra $2 means nothing to me and I just consider part of the bar girl cost calculus.

I also give a $1 to the hotel check-in guy and a $1 to the parking attendants. The parking attendants at Hotel Levya seem surprised and very appreciative when I give them a dollar. Hopefully it helps ensure my car is a bit more taken care of.

Well, I don't tip in US dollars. Sometimes I have a few stray $1 bills and, if they get spent at all, they might go to tip a dancer, or more probably they will go to feed a juke box in a bar that has one that only accepts dollars. Pretty common, actually.

I tip meseros 10 pesos per round. Slightly more if they bring a cubeta, but only that once. That's the way the locals do it.

I stopped taking girls out of HK so I pay no robe fees.

Cabs get no tip because the price was already negotiated. If he was a great guy, or does something extra, like waiting while I/my date runs into an OXXO, or something, I will kick in an extra 20 pesos.

I usually tip the Uber guys 10 or 15 pesos, from inside the app.

I make a point of tipping the old lady/man who bags groceries 20 pesos. Most locals give a lot less. They are "retirees" and that's often their only source of income.

If he's helpful, I'll give the parking lot guy (the one with a whistle) 10 pesos for assisting.

I don't tip escorts. We established the price (in pesos), a tip isn't customary in Mexico. The exception is if she provided a service beyond the agreed terms/call of duty. That could be 200 or 300 pesos, all depends on the situation.

I do overtip in nice restaurants. I really want to encourage good service because in so many countries a waiter is considered to be a very menial job, so I think good service should be rewarded. I almost always tip 15% of the bill and they seem pretty happy with that. If it's a super-duper experience, 20%, but that's rare. (No tipping in loncherias and taquerias, short of a few extra coins from the change). Rocky the Flying Squirrel has given up on nagging me about overtipping. Her take on it is that it's some guy who brings a freaking plate to your table. How hard could that be??? There are women in fabricas earning 1400 pesos a WEEK. Surely a waiter isn't worth that kind of money. But  I'm incorrigible, and she's given up. BTW, her standard seems to be about 10% in nicer places and a few coins in others.

Being a Yanqui, tipping has become ingrained. It's a tough habit to break. I think I have cut down, but RtFS still scolds me occasionally for overtipping meseros or sometimes club girls. I'm improving slowly. I really try not to be the guy who walks around tipping everybody in sight. And I've found now that I spend most of my time away from the ZN I don't tip all that often. It's kind of a jar to the senses when I go back to the ZN and every-fucking-body-and-his-brother has his hand out. That shit gets real old, real fast.

Thank you everyone for the great tips (get it, ha ha).

I did not realize tipping the robe guy was mandatory because I always gave it to him automatically without thinking about it and never thought to refuse. I also see that it's better to tip due to situation and not a fixed percentage when dining out.

I guess being an American it's hard to get rid of the tipping habit. I always try to combine both worlds, my tipping culture I grew up with, but also not overdoing it in other countries while conceding that areas with large tourists will probably have evolved to expect tips.
